Possible New Food Co-op--Need Your Support!

Attention friends,

There is a small group of people on the west side that is beginning exploring starting a food co-op. So far, there has been one meeting which was encouraging. The meeting's purpose was to begin to assemble a survey of questions to determine what goods and services locals would want their food co-op to provide, such as support for local farm produce (when available), organic foods, affordable membership fees---and services like delivery and meal planning. There was much more discussed as well. It would like to be determined who would most likely be someone who would be a founding member of the co-op so a core group of member can be established. A strong consideration for location of the co-op would be in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood on W.65th and Franklin Blvd. This location has easy access to the highway (I-90 East and West) for those who would support the co-op from farther west side places or wherever-----Additionally, the location serves extremely well, the walkable neighborhood....as well as those who like to ride bicycles.
